Notebook and Pen

The Journaling Bridge  is a service-oriented initiative designed to bridge the gap between individuals experiencing cognitive challenges and volunteers passionate about making a difference. Through structured journal-writing sessions, the program seeks to create meaningful interactions that foster memory recall, self-reflection, and community building.

  • Foster Meaningful Connections: Create opportunities for volunteers to engage deeply with participants, building bridges of understanding and empathy.

  • Empower Participants: Enable participants to feel seen, heard, and valued by giving them the opportunity to share their unique life experiences.

  • Create Personalized Memory Books: Develop individualized memory books that capture the essence of participants’ stories, enhanced by contributions from family and friends.

    • "What is a childhood memory that brings you joy?"

    • "What activities have made you happiest throughout your life?"

    • "What is something you are most proud of achieving?"

  • Example questions for family members include:

    • "What was their favorite pastime as a child?"

    • "What significant accomplishments stand out in their life

4. Compiling memory books

  • All writings and contributions will be compiled into individualized memory books.

  • Participants will have the opportunity to personalize their books further with photos, drawings, or decorations.

5. Coffeehouse Presentation:

  • At the program’s conclusion, participants will present their memory books in a supportive coffeehouse-style gathering attended by family, friends, and volunteers.

  • This celebratory event will highlight their achievements and encourage continued engagement.

6. Video Interviews:

  • Participants will be interviewed at the end of the program to share their reflections and thoughts on the experience.

  • Video interviews will serve as a way to evaluate the program’s impact and share its success with future participants and stakeholders.
